This weeks reading drew me more into that book than i ever thought possible. I found out many more things about character development as the author gave the reader a deeper and deeper look inside the protagonists' thoughts and feelings. For example, at the end of the reading new traits were exposed about Risa and Connor as they begin to come out of each others shells hardened by the misfortunes and betrayal of their lives. Not only do we get to see inside the character, but new characters are implanted in the plot. The interesting thing about this can be uncovered when you look deeper into why these characters were placed in the plot and analyise each ones contribution to the plot. When Risa and Connor arrive in the antique store they encounter three new fellow unwinds. Hayden is the brains of the three. He is constantly adding his own unique input into such things as unwinding and harvest camp and seems to contribute a sense of wonder to the idea of unwinding that gets the reader to think about how it would feel to live in a world were something like being unwound would occur often. Roland is the brawn. Much bigger and more intimidating than Connor, Roland has placed himself as a type of leader who attempts to govern everyone he comes in contact with. Connor's and Roland's conflicting testosterone creates added drama to Connor's experience. The final Unwind has yet another aggressive attitude most likely an effect of traumatizing events occurring within her personal life. Mia's purpose in the story has yet to be revealed but her snappy comments conflict with Hayden's thought provoking theories and provides a balance between the two mind sets.
this book sounds really cool. I liked how you analyzed why each character was put in to the story and how they get along with the others. Does the book get confusing with so many main characters?
